Poornima Garg
Poornima Garg is the Country Director at Room to Read India. With over 2 decades of work experience, she is committed and dedicated to positively influencing the lives of children, especially girls, through education.
She joined Room to Read India in 2011 as People Operations Director and strengthened the organization’s people strategies and processes, developing best practices to inform worldwide approaches.
In 2019, she took over as the Deputy Country Director at Room to Read India. Throughout her journey, Poornima has led the organization’s transformation, effectively managing Room to Read’s largest program which is implemented across 12 states in India.
Over the years, under her leadership, Room to Read India embarked on several key initiatives including being awarded as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for nine consecutive years and a ‘Great Place to Work for Women’ for the first time in 2022.
Poornima’s passion towards the cause of gender equality and women’s rights has played an instrumental role in the uptake of life skills education for girls through Room to Read India programs. She was conferred with the title of ‘The Phenomenal She’ in 2019 by Indian National Bar Association for her allegiance to uphold women’s rights at workplace, contributing to establishment of ICC within organizations under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) act.
Poornima is also a certified Life Coach.
