A dedicated mentoring team was also established to work closely with the National Book Committee while deepening expertise in Room to Read’s book development approach. In parallel, capacity-building workshops were conducted for authors and illustrators, focusing on best practices in creating engaging, age-appropriate children’s literature.

As a key output, the project supported the development of 15 high-quality children’s book titles in Spanish, contributing both to immediate resource availability and to strengthening the broader publishing ecosystem.

2021

In 2021, we took our work even further with the World Bank. We versioned 15 of our Spanish Honduras titles (from our previous project with USAID) into two local languages in Honduras with very little existing reading materials for children – Garifuna and Miskito.
