Room to Read, a global education nonprofit nurturing foundational learning skills in children, today announced actor Shubham Maheshwari as its newest global ambassador.
“Shubham represents a rising generation of storytellers and changemakers who understand that stories are not just reflections of the world, but portals to possibility,” said Dr. Geetha Murali, CEO of Room to Read. “He brings a powerful and authentic voice to our mission, grounded in the belief that literacy is more than a skill—it shapes identity, builds confidence, and expands what children believe their lives can hold. We are thrilled to welcome Shubham as a global ambassador and excited for what we will unlock together for children around the world.”
As a global ambassador, Maheshwari will use his platform to raise awareness for Room to Read’s mission and help mobilize action around global literacy and life skills. Through the partnership, he will champion efforts that address the global education crisis and promote the importance of foundational learning for children everywhere.
“I believe education is one of the most powerful investments we can make in children. Access to quality education is a fundamental human right. Room to Read’s commitment to strengthening foundational learning and tackling the global literacy crisis is both inspiring and urgent. I’m honored to support their mission and look forward to working alongside them to help build a future where every child has the opportunity to learn,” said Maheshwari.
Maheshwari starred in "We Were Liars," the Prime Video series adaptation of E. Lockhart’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel, in which he portrayed character Gat Patil. Produced by Julie Plec, the series premiered in June 2025 and has been announced as renewed for a second season. He previously starred in the psychological short film "Haven Dust." Born to Indian parents and based in Dubai, Maheshwari graduated with a degree in economics from the University of British Columbia.
