Dilshad Vadsaria Announces Philanthropic Commitment to Global Education as Room to Read Ambassador
Dilshad Vadsaria, actress and advocate, has been named an ambassador for Room to Read, a global non-profit focused on literacy and girls’ education. The announcement was made last night during a Room to Read benefit held in Beverly Hills, by Vadsaria, who was a special guest of the evening, and Erin Ganju, Room to Read Co-founder and CEO. Vadsaria will leverage her platform in the entertainment industry to raise funds and awareness for Room to Read’s Literacy and Girls’ Education programs in low-income communities around the world.
Vadsaria has set a personal fundraising goal of $50,000 to fund Room to Read’s comprehensive literacy program at a government school in the Polonnaruwa district of Sri Lanka—establishing a library complete with quality reading materials and teacher training— as well as support 50 girls to complete secondary school and develop key life skills through Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program. Fans and supporters can donate to her campaign at https://give.roomtoread.org/dilshad. Dilshad’s philanthropic commitment is aligned with Room to Read’s global movement called, Active for Education, which encourages supporters around the world to activate their body and mind through personalized fundraising campaigns.
“I was born in Pakistan and moved to the States at a very young age,” said Vadsaria. “Throughout my childhood, education was always a priority in my family. Consequently, I became sensitive to the fact that many children around the world, especially girls, were not afforded the same educational opportunities I was.
“As a child, I delighted in all the endless possibilities my active imagination could dream up. I want to help other children around the world also experience that same joy and freedom to dream and to achieve, limitlessly, through the power of story and literacy.”
As a Room to Read ambassador, Vadsaria will be an advocate for global education and support the organization through investments made on her behalf, events, and engagement with children benefitted by Room to Read.
