Monday, November 10 - Welcome to Tanzania Tuesday, November 11 - Immersive School Visit: Literacy & Girls' Education in Action This immersive visit offers a firsthand look at the transformative power of education and the local partnerships that make it possible. You'll leave with a deeper connection to our work—and to the bright futures being written every day in Tanzania. After a day full of inspiration and connection, we’ll return to Dar es Salaam for an early group dinner and time to reflect together. Wednesday, November 12 - Meetings & Collaboration Following the meeting at the President’s Office, we will return to the Hyatt Regency to commence the scheduled board sessions. Please note that the timing of the sessions may shift after we have confirmation for the State House visit. Guests not attending board meetings are welcome to spend the day exploring the local area or relaxing at the hotel. Guests are free to depart today after their respective board meetings conclude.

Arrive in the vibrant city of Dar es Salaam and check in to your hotel where Room to Read staff will warmly welcome you. In the evening, join fellow board members at the Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam, The Kilimanjaro, for a reception and dinner to connect, set intentions for the days ahead, and hear what’s in store. Please make your way to the rooftop terrace at 5:00 PM to meet your fellow travelers and the Room to Read staff who will be your guides for the journey.
Departing from the Hyatt Regency, experience the heart of Room to Read’s mission as we spend the day at a partner school implementing our Literacy and Girls’ Education Programs. Step into early grade classrooms and a vibrant school library to see how we are building a foundation for lifelong learning. Engage in meaningful conversations with teachers, students, parents, and school leaders, and join a powerful Life Skills session with secondary school girls.
This morning is reserved for a visit to the State House, where we may have the opportunity to meet with Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The meeting will be confirmed a few days in advance.
