Room to Read aims to reach the 432 million adolescent girls around the world through accessible and extraordinary She Creates Change stories, life skills and associated curriculum.
When the pandemic caused a global education crisis that put adolescent girls more acutely at risk of dropping out of school and giving up their education, Room to Read recognized the need and opportunity to reach girls where they are — because school is not always a given. We made changes to our programming to support girls through all mediums – print materials, radio, television broadcast and mobile phones.
She Creates Change is the engine through which our Girls’ Education Program content, including the life skills we teach, will be provided to young women everywhere and inspire girls to see themselves as the heroes of their own stories and create positive change for themselves, their families and their communities.
She Creates Change will be available in dozens of languages — starting with English, Spanish and Hindi — and distributed throughout the world, through Room to Read programs and in partnership with community organizations and governments. Curriculum packages that align with the stories presented, based on Room to Read’s comprehensive seven-year Girls’ Education Program curriculum, will be provided online, through broadcast media and in-person programming.
