Every day, we read without thinking about it. A text. A subject line. A prescription label. A bedtime story. Directions home. We often take reading for granted. That’s not the case for millions of children who are still waiting for room to learn. That’s why Room to Read works with communities around the world to help more children access more books — books that spark a love of reading and learning, support strong literacy skills and unlock a future of new possibilities. This September, join a global effort to celebrate the power of reading while helping children around the world access books and education. By making room to read in your own life, you can make room to read for children around the world. Participating is simple: 1. Pledge to Read. Set a goal to read for a certain number of minutes – on your own, as a class, or with a group. 2. Track and share your progress. For every minute you read, invite others to support you by making an equivalent donation to promote education worldwide. 3. Raise funds for literacy. Every USD $1 donated can provide a brand-new book for a child facing deep educational, gender and economic inequities.
