Mary Byron, recently retired from Goldman Sachs, and Dr. Luis Crouch, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer in RTI’s International Development Group have been elected as the newest members of Room to Read’s Board of Directors, it was announced today by John Wood, Founder; Erin Ganju, CEO and Co-founder; and Craig Bruya, Board Chair of Room to Read.
“We eagerly anticipate Mary Byron’s and Dr. Luis Crouch’s expertise in technology and international development, respectively as the newest members of our board,” says Erin Ganju, Room to Read’s CEO and co-founder. “Both Mary’s experience efficiently scaling operations and Luis’ dedication to addressing global issues perfectly complement Room to Read’s mission and core values.”
Mary Byron is retired from Goldman Sachs, most recently as the Global Head of Corporate Technology including Finance, Risk, Operations and Human Resources. She served on the Technology Division Executive, Operating and Risk Committees. Prior to this role, Ms. Byron was based in Tokyo as CIO for Asia Pacific businesses and co-chair of the Asia Pacific Diversity Committee. She joined Goldman Sachs in 1989 and has held various roles within technology, including managing the firm’s global networks and computing infrastructure. Ms. Byron was named managing director in 1999 and partner in 2006. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation and the Auburn Theological Seminary.
Dr. Luis Crouch is a Vice President and the Chief Technical Officer of RTI’s International Development Group. In this role, Dr. Crouch leads work in key strategic areas, addressing important challenges in various global issues with a focus on education, youth, food and agriculture, and data revolution for development. He has worked on all aspects of policy analysis research and implementation, from field surveys to quantitative and qualitative analysis to policy dialogue presentations. Prior to this role, Dr. Crouch was Coordinator for the Global Good Practice group with the Global Partnership for Education, and also acted as a high-level technical advisor to governments of both South Africa and Egypt.
