At 15 years-old Roshanara was a dedicated student in Delhi, India eager to continue her education. Yet, due to family pressure she was nearly forced to drop out of school and enter into an arranged marriage. Because she was enrolled in our Girls' Education Program, Roshanara had built the necessary skills to advocate for her independence and her future. With side-by-side support from her Room to Read mentor, she convinced her parents to call off the marriage and let her continue studying. Today 19 year-old Roshanara is pursuing a B.A. at Jamila Milia Islamia University and working part-time at a doctor's clinic.
When you support Room to Read, you give more girls like Roshanara the power to write their future and Change Their Story. Through the end of 2016 your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar, lighting up twice as many lives this holiday season!
