Director, Africa Program Operations

Paul is the Director, Africa Program Operations at Room to Read, an organization that believes World Change Starts with Educated Children.® Room to Read envisions a world in which all children can pursue a quality education that enables them to reach their full potential and contribute to their communities and the world. 

As Program Operations Director, Africa, Paul provides leadership and management support to Room to Read’s portfolio in South Africa, Tanzania, and project work in Uganda, as well as future growth in the Africa region. Paul Kilambya has almost two decades of progressive experience in international development. Since his start in the sector, he has developed regional and country program portfolios and served as Regional Director, Country Director, Chief of Party, Country Manager, and Regional Operations Manager in complex and rapidly evolving environments across Africa. 

Prior to Room to Read, Paul served as the Dalhousie University, Country Manager, a role in which he successfully managed a $20.5 Million bilateral initiative between the Government of Canada and the Federal Republic of Ethiopia. Paul, also worked as a Country Director at Save the Children Canada, directing successful program delivery and driving a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and performance optimization. Previously, Paul served as the Regional Program Operations Manager with World Vision, Africa Regional Office and Child Fund International, providing programmatic and operational leadership for country offices across the East, Central, and Southern Africa regions. He successfully directed the planning, budgeting, and implementation of regional programs and robust operations strategy, as well as managed large and complex teams, successfully leading his team through organizational change and transitions. 

Paul received his M.A degree from York St John University, UK, and a Bachelor of Commerce, from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
