Norkham joined Room to Read as Country Director for Laos in 2013. She has worked in the development sector since 1993, with a strong focus on education development in Laos, Mongolia, and Timor-Leste since 2000.
Under her leadership, Room to Read Laos has expanded access to quality education through school infrastructure, Lao language instruction, school libraries, children’s book publishing, and life skills programs that promote girls’ empowerment and gender equality. She has led the scaling of these initiatives and their integration into government systems to support sustainable, system-level impact.
