Matt Culhane
Matt Culhane is the Chief People & Culture Officer of Room to Read, an organization that believes World Change Starts with Educated Children.®
Matt leads talent and culture strategy for Room to Read, partnering with teams across the organization to support the people and culture that make the organization's global mission of literacy and gender equality possible. He is known for his values-based approach to leadership and his experience managing large-scale change and complexity in global settings.
Matt joins Room to Read from Guttman Development Strategies, where he served as a Senior Organizational Development Consultant. Prior to his consulting career, he held progressive Human Resources leadership roles, including 21 years in the consumer healthcare sector, as well as HR roles at American Express and McKinsey & Company. He began his career as a Contract Analyst at Lifespire, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Matt holds an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at NYU and a BS in Finance from Temple University. He also holds professional certifications in executive coaching, HR leadership, and strategy from Rutgers, Stanford, and Dartmouth. Matt is based in the New York City area.
