Hosting an event is a fun and rewarding way to bring your family and friends together in support of changing the world. Events also help create awareness for Room to Read and our incredible work while raising critical funds to sustain our impact wherever the need is the greatest.
Are you hosting an event in the United States?
If so, we can help create a ticketing page (for either paid or free ticked events) on our Classy powered event platform for you to share with your network. To get started, at least one month prior to your desired publication date complete and submit the Chapter Event Ticketing Form. We’ll create your Classy event ticketing page, which you can then edit and share with your network. The funds from the event tickets will be added to your chapter page every month.
Is your event outside the United States?
If so, our current Classy powered event platform does not process non-USD currency, but they hope to build in that capacity in the future. Please follow instructions below on how to create your Eventbrite page.
Please do NOT use other event platforms for your event. Outside platforms are not integrated with our gift processing systems and are very difficult to process, which leads to inefficiencies. We cannot guarantee that the funds raised via an outside platform can be allocated towards Room to Read.
If your event is outside of the United States, use Eventbrite as our chosen vendor to create a registration page. Create a login, or sign in, then create your event. The images below are sized to fit the Eventbrite Event Image template.
Once you secure your date, venue and your registration page, complete the Chapter Event Listing Form. Allow 2-3 business days for your event to be added to the website.
*Note: Event listings are only for public events that supporters can attend, not for chapter campaigns. All events will automatically populate to all three pages listed above and are not designed to be listed on just one or two of the pages.
If you would like to include an auction or raffle at your event, please refer to the local laws and regulations in your market. There can be licenses and fees associated with auctions and raffles, so these will need to be considered before proceeding.
If you decide to move forward with an auction, before you approach companies for possible donations, please review our Top Funder List. If a company is on the list or if it is a large national or multi-national company, check in with your Global Chapter Contact before proceeding.
This part's important! Submit your funds and mail in any donations you collect as soon as possible so we can get them processed, put the funds to work, and receipt donors in a timely manner.
Immediately following an event please mail donations to your local regional business office. Be sure to include:
After EVERY chapter event, please fill out a Chapter Event-Wrap-Up form so we can capture the impact of your event.
When engaging in media outreach for your upcoming chapter events, there are a number of tools to help initiate dialogue with media targets and generate interest:
Active for Education is Room to Read’s campaign to get energized, body and mind, for global literacy and gender equality in education. It’s inspired by all the creative chapter network activities you’ve rolled out over the years! Here are some ways to get involved:
Your gift will be used where and when most needed, allowing us to deliver a comprehensive and holistic approach to education. Your gift, combined with those of other donors, is a powerful means to provide the skills and confidence young students need to escape poverty and build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
