A volunteer-run chapter of Room to Read

About Us

About Us Volunteer

The Sydney Chapter has been in operation since 2009, and comprises a vibrant and energetic community of committed volunteers and supporters who believe that access to a quality education is the key to cracking the cycle of poverty.

We are part of a global network of changemakers bringing Room to Read to our communities and raising the critical funds we need to make education a reality for millions of children.

Together we will raise more money than we ever could alone and we are so excited for you to come along on our journey to change the world through education.

18th October, Sydney's Fastest Executive Race - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

On Friday 18 October 2019, 40+ of Sydney’s top business leaders will join Scott Farquhar (Atlassian’s co-founder and co-CEO) to race against each other on a 10km route from Art Gallery for NSW and around the scenic Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair in support of Room to Read’s Literacy & Girls' Education Program.

Last year, the event went worldwide featuring major cities like London and Hong Kong. Here in Sydney, we raised over $174,700 and enabled over 2,495 children in low income countries to begin their journey to literacy and becoming lifelong readers. With 750 million around the world that are still illiterate and 2/3’s of them being women and girls…there is still so much more we can do!

We are currently looking for volunteers to help steward Room to Read’s Fastest Executive Race event for the following roles:

  • Registration Table
  • Bag Check-Out Table
  • Water Station Table
  • Course Marshals

If you are interested, please contact Cherry at cherry.ng@roomtoread.org to sign up.
