Room to Read Partners with Maiden Factor in a Global Collaborative Girls’ Education Campaign

On September 5th, Room to Read's CEO, Geetha Murali, attended a private event at HMS President to mark our partnership with Maiden Factor. The Maiden is a yacht that made history in 1990 by being the first all-female crew to complete the Whitbread Round the World Race.
This past year, Maiden has undergone extensive refurbishment to get her ready and back in the water thanks to the generous support of HRH Princess Haya Al Bint Hussein. Maiden will embark on a new mission to empower and educate girls around the world supporting six partner charities, including Room to Read.
Geetha was joined by Room to Read Global Chair John Ridding and Girls’ Education Program Graduate Thirumagal from Sri Lanka to see Maiden before she sets off on a three-year global tour. They also met TRH’s the Prince of Wales & Duchess of Cornwall at the launch, who attended by invitation of Princess Haya Al Bint Hussein.
