The Sketchtravel Book is a unique international charity art project. This red sketchbook was passed from one artist's hand to another in an artistic relay through 12 countries over the past 5 years.  This traveling museum contains the personal visions of 71 exceptional illustrators, animators and comic book artists, including artists such as Bill Plympton, Frederick Back, and Hayao Miyazaki.  The project culminated in an auction of the original book in Brussels on October 17, 2011.  The published book, based on the original can be purchased on Amazon, com. Proceeds from the auction and royalties from the book's publication are being donated to Room to Read.

Given the contributing artist's backgrounds in illustration, animation, and comic books, a charity focused on child literacy was a fitting choice.  Room to Read focuses on literacy and gender equality in education for children in developing countries.  Sketchtravel funds are supporting Room to Read's South and Southeast Asia programs: funds will be used to establish 1 library and sponsor the publication of 1 children's book each in Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
