Q: How many children do you teach/ work with? 60 students Q: How many years have you been a teacher? I have been teaching for more than 12 years Q: How do you get to school? How long does it take you? I get to school by bus which takes me about 45 minutes. Q: How much money do you make? I make Rs 4950 (US$70) per month Q: What do you think of the new school? How is it an improvement over the old school? I think it is great for the students who study here. We had an old building which was made of mud. When you walked into the second floor of the old building, you would feel of earthquake. There wasn't enough room for all the students. We had to hold two different classes in the same room. After this new building was constructed, we have been able to allocate separate rooms for each class. So it is a huge improvement over the old school.
Q: Do more kids go to the current school than before? Do children skip school (are they sick) as much as before this school was built? Yes more kids go to school than before. Because of the new building we were able to accommodate more students in each class. There are absent students, but not as many as there used to be. Q: Are the children learning more than before? Yes, they are learning more then before. The library has played a big part in that. Q: What time do you get to school each day? 10 am Q: How many hours do you teach in one day? 7 hours (10am to 4 pm)
Q: What subjects do you teach the children? Social Studies and Science Q: Did you help build the school or raise money for it? No. I did not get this opportunity; otherwise, I would have been a part of this project. Q: What is your favorite part of the new school? Number of classrooms? Size of classrooms? Bathrooms? Something else? The new building is super - I like every thing of the building though we do not have enough ground for other activities for the students. Otherwise, the school is an ideal place - quiet and very fresh and an appropriate environment for teaching. Since I live in the city, the greenery and the fresh air of this place is the best part of the school. |
