Q: How many years have you been going to school? 12 years (She joined pre-school in her village when she was 2 years old where kids play and get used to the school environment.) Q: When did you start going to your current school? Age 2 Q: Do you have brothers and sisters? How old are they? What are their names? Yes, 2 younger sisters: Ekta, 12 and Namita, 10 yrs old, also 2 younger brothers Sishir and Basanta, both of them are 8 years old. Q: Do you help your parents cook? Do you help them work? Do you watch your brothers and sisters while your parents work? Do you help clean? Yes I help my parents cook, clean and I also watch over my sisters and brothers. I help my mother to cook and look after my younger brothers and sisters every day before we go to school and after we come from school. My younger sister helps me with my work. Q: How many rooms do you have in your house? Can you describe the house? 4 Rooms / Cement and bricks; the floors are not carpeted, but are instead just cement. There are three bedrooms, one for my parents, one for me and the other one for my younger sister and brothers. My younger brothers and sisters share one room. There is a separate room for the kitchen. We have a common bathroom and shower which is also used by other people living in the building with us. Q: What do your parents do to make a living? My father has gone abroad (Norway) to work and my mother is a housewife. Q: Did your parents go to school? Yes, both of my parents have got SLC. (Student Leaving Certificate is a certificate Nepali students get after passing the final exams to graduate from secondary school and is equivalent to our high school diploma.) Q: Do your parents like that you go to school? Why? Yes. My parents could not study due to various reasons after they passed SLC. They know the importance of education in this world. They want me to go to school and study hard and become a staff nurse in future. Q: What do you want to be when you grow up? Staff Nurse - that's would be my first attempt and if not I will work in any good office
Q: What do you like to do for fun? Watch TV, Play with friends Q: What kind of games do you play? Carom, Badminton Q: What time do you wake up? 5 am Q: What do you have for breakfast? Bread, Tea Q: Do you walk to school or ride bicycle? How far away is school? How long does it take? I usually walk to my School which is about 2 km away from my house. It takes me about 15 minutes to get there. Q: What do you see while you are going to school? Do you go alone or with friends (and what are their names) ? I see many houses, paddy fields while I am coming to school. I come with my friends: Anita Nepal, Kalpana Ramouli, Saraswoti Dhungana - all four of us live in same area Q: What time does school start? 10:00 am Q: Are you happy to go to school? Yes. Now, we have computer lab and library in the school ; they were supported by Room to Read. Q: What Is your favorite part of your school? What do you like to study most? Reading? Drawing? Math? Science? My favorite part of my school is the library and computer lab. I guess, this is only government school in this area which has computer class. I like to study History (Nepal) the most Q: What is your favorite book to read? How many times have you read it? My favorite book is Nepal ko itihas (history of Nepal). I have read it twice. Q: Do you bring your lunch to school? Yes Q: What do you have for lunch? Fried Rice Q: What time do you finish school? What time do you go home? 6 pm Q: What time do you eat dinner? What do you eat? We eat dinner at about 8 pm. We usually have Rice and curry. Q: Do you have homework to do? Yes Q: What time do you go to bed? 10 pm |
