About Reprints Desk

Reprints Desk, Inc. is a proud supporter of Room to Read. Reprints Desk helps companies to obtain and use scientific, technical, and medical (STM) literature in compliance with copyright and Good Promotional Practices. Services are designed to save time and money, and improve workflows for professionals in information management, research, regulatory affairs, legal, medical affairs, education, sales and marketing.

Reprints Desk is contributing a portion of every transaction – single article document delivery for research and bulk copies of scientific journal articles (“reprints”) for medical marketing and sales – to help Room to Read establish libraries in developing countries and support gender equality in education. The company, which delivered more than five million articles with other Derycz Scientific subsidiaries in 2010, announced that the first library supported by this partnership will be established in Nepal and that the second location will be determined by customers. Additionally, the partnership will support at least one girl to participate in Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program this year.

The school-based library will be filled with local language and English children’s books, posters, maps, and games that engage children in reading. The library will serve approximately 400 students as well as train the teachers and librarians that will support student learning. Through the Girls’ Education Program, Room to Read provides long-term financial assistance towards school fees, as well as tutoring, mentoring, and life skills training in communities where verifiable gender inequalities exist to ensure girls’ ability to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.

In Nepal, books are unaffordable for most families who live on less than US$1 a day
