Room to Read is committed to transparency and treating our donors as investors both in our organization and in education throughout the developing world. As a result, we have developed an "Adopt a Project" menu through which donors can choose to sponsor a specific project. The following list describes our 2009 priority projects and their adoption costs. Please note that our prices have increased this year as we work to make our projects more sustainable. Pricing this year includes staff and office costs in the countries where we work as well as monitoring and evaluation of our projects.
Please note that we also greatly appreciate unrestricted funding as it allows us to build capacity and deploy your funds in the most strategic way. This year we need to raise US$23 million to impact the lives of an additional 800,000 children for a cumulative total of over 3.2 million children across the developing world. Every donation you make helps us meet our ambitious goals! If you are interested in sponsoring one of our projects, please contact us to start the process. Thank you!

| Reading Room | ||||
| Join our effort to scale our library program from 7,000 to over 11,000 established and reach an additional 3 million children by 2010! The Room to Dream Campaign is an initiative we began in 2008 in order to reach our ambitious programmatic goals for our flagship Reading Room and Local Language Publishing programs. With your support, we can open the doors of opportunity for the millions of children throughout the developing world who currently don't have access to libraries or books. | ||||
| US$4,000 |
Establish a library within an existing space in a school in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, or Sri Lanka or Vietnam. Each of these libraries serves hundreds of students annually and includes as many as 300-1,000 local language and English language books (depending on the size of the room). Your sponsorship funds the creation of a child-friendly learning environment that includes: books, furniture, games, puzzles, posters, librarian training, and three years of support from Room to Read. As a key supporter of our Reading Room program, you will receive an example Completion Report for one of the libraries established in the country of your choice so that you can see the impact you are having on communities throughout our countries of operation. In order to maximize our in-country teams' time implementing our work, we cannot provide personalized Completion Reports for each of the 2,150 libraries we will establish this year, but you will receive semi-annual reports on our Reading Room and Local Language Publishing programs detailing the progress we are making across all of our geographies as we scale from 7,000 to 11,000 libraries. Download our latest Reading Room and Local Language Publishing Investor Update (Adobe PDF, 4.7MB). We will also send you a personalized certificate of recognition of your generous support of the program, as well as a blank certificate that you can fill out to honor a loved one with your gift to Room to Read. |

Sponsors of a Constructed Library project will receive an Application Report which describes the community in need, reasons for support, and details of the challenge grant; and a Completion Report with a summary and photos of the completed school, including a photo of the dedication plaque that adorns the building with the messaging of the donors choosing. Africa Programs
Fund our 2009 program expansion in Africa! As we build our capacity on a new continent and deepen our program delivery in South Africa and Zambia, we need your support. Because prices are significantly higher in Africa, we have developed a pricing strategy that addresses these steeper costs associated with salaries and building materials.
