Room to Read is committed to transparency and treating our donors as investors both in our organization and in education throughout the developing world. As a result, we have developed an "Adopt a Project" menu through which donors can choose to sponsor a specific project. Please note that we also greatly appreciate unrestricted funding as it allows us to build capacity and deploy your funds in the most strategic way.
The following list describes our 2008 priority projects and their adoption costs. Please note that our prices have increased this year as we work to make our projects more sustainable. Pricing this year includes staff and office costs in the countries where we work as well as monitoring and evaluation of our projects. This year we need to raise US$22 million to impact the lives of an additional 700,000 children for a cumulative total of over 2.4 million children across the developing world. Every donation helps us meet our ambitious goals! If you are interested in sponsoring one of our projects, please contact us to start the adoption process. Thank you!

| Room to Grow Girls' Scholarship | |||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| US$2,500 |
Fund ten years of girls' scholarships in Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka or Vietnam. These holistic scholarships make it possible for a girl, who would otherwise not have access to an education, to attend school through the secondary level. Sponsors of our Room to Grow Girls' Scholarship Program receive an annual Girls' Scholarship Yearbook that describes the program in detail, highlights partnerships, and profiles some of the scholars. |

| Reading Room | |||||||||||||
| US$4,000 |
Contribute to our "Room to Dream" Campaign to expand our number of libraries from 5,000 to 10,000 by 2010. For US$4,000, you can fund one of thousands of libraries we are creating to reach an additional 3 million children with books and library resources. You can designate your gift to establish a library within an existing room in a school in Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka or Vietnam. Each of these libraries serves hundreds of students annually and includes as many as 300-1000 local language and English language books (depending on the size of the room). Your sponsorship funds the creation of a child-friendly learning environment that includes: books, furniture, games, puzzles, posters, librarian training, and three years of support from Room to Read. As a sponsor, you will receive quarterly reports on our Reading Room Program detailing the progress we are making across all of our geographies as we scale from 5,000 to 10,000 libraries. |
||||||||||||
| US$12,000 |
Sponsor three libraries and receive more benefits! In addition to the quarterly reports mentioned above, for every three libraries sponsored, your name or that of a loved one will be placed on a personalized group plaque on one of the libraries. Due to the high volume of reading rooms established annually, we cannot provide plaques and Completion Reports for every library sponsored, but we will send you a Completion Report from the country of your choice so that you can see the type of library and community you have served. |

| Local Language Publishing | |||||||||||||
| US$10,000 |
Fund the publication of approximately 10,000 copies of an original local language children's book written and illustrated by local authors and artists in Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka or Vietnam. You may choose the country. Each title is printed in the country of origin, supporting local industry and creating jobs, and then distributed throughout our schools and libraries. Sponsors of our Local Language Publishing Program will have their name or that of a loved one printed on the inside cover of a book as part of a group dedication. You will receive copies of the book once published. See a sample local language book (Adobe PDF, 4.7MB). |

| School Room | |||||||||||||
| US$20-35,000 |
Fund the construction of a new preschool, primary, or secondary school, depending on the need of the specific community. Each school has from three to ten rooms and provides a new or improved learning environment for students.
For our School Room Program, project sponsors will receive an Application Report which describes the community in need, reasons for support, and details of the challenge grant; and a Completion Report with a summary and photos of the completed school, including a photo of the dedication plaque that adorns the building. |

Fund our 2008 program expansion in Africa! As we build our capacity on a new continent and begin to deliver our programs in South Africa and Zambia we need your support.
