About Room to Read Chapters

Room to Read depends on our chapter leaders and chapter members to help us achieve our annual fundraising goal and to represent Room to Read. Our chapters are comprised of groups of individuals who have made a long-term volunteer commitment to promoting Room to Read within their networks and communities. The chapters organize annual fundraising events, introduce us to potential corporate, foundation and individual supporters and act as representatives for Room to Read within their area.

About the
Edmonton
 Chapter

Welcome to the Edmonton Chapter! Our volunteers became inspired to get involved with Room to Read after hearing John Wood speak about Room to Read and its mission, after reading his book, or after learning about Room to Read from a Room to Read fan.
The Chapter was formed in June 2008. It had its Launch event in Nov. 2008 at the new Lois Hole Library. We were honoured to have Jim Hole as the Guest Speaker. Laurie Greenwood was the M.C.
Our goals for 2013 include holding several intimate events as well as spreading the awareness of our charitable work through out our community. We also hope to get schools excited about doing fund raising for Room to Read.

Host An Event in Support of Room to Read!

Did you ever think that you could do something to help Room to Read... you can.

You could host an event to promote or to raise funds for Room to Read?  Some ideas include: read-a-thons, pot luck events, book club fundraisers, silent auctions,  or raffles.  Give up your birthday and have your friends and family donate the money in your name.

We have banners, display materials, and other resources to help you promote Room to Read.

Teachers and Students

You can help children in the developing world get books and libraries by holding a Read-A-Thon at your school. It's easy and fun! We have an information guide that gives you all the tools and tips you need to run a great event.
