About Room to Read Chapters

Room to Read depends on our chapter leaders and chapter members to help us achieve our annual fundraising goal and to represent Room to Read. Our chapters are comprised of groups of individuals who have made a long-term volunteer commitment to promoting Room to Read within their networks and communities. The chapters organize annual fundraising events, introduce us to potential corporate, foundation and individual supporters and act as representatives for Room to Read within their area.

Meet the
 Chapter Leaders

Dixie Hamilton
Dixie was inspired to join the Austin chapter in 2010 after having traveled in several of the countries in which Room to Read works. She spends her days doing finance and project management for the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, and spends her evenings planning Room to Read events. Dixie also enjoys swimming, watching Law & Order, and pretending she's going to train for a triathlon.
Meghan Williams
Meghan is a QA/Support Specialist at Charity Dynamics, a company that provides online solutions for nonprofit organizations. She started volunteering with Room to Read in the summer of 2012 after attending one of the Austin chapter's fundraisers. She loves the passion and enthusiasm every volunteer and employee seems to have and has, herself, become a life-time member.

Volunteer Opportunities:
As the chapter is run entirely by volunteers we're often looking for people who have the skills, enthusiasm and time to help us grow. Volunteering with the dynamic Austin fundraising chapter can be a very rewarding experience and we pride ourselves on the high calibre of people we have working together.

We always have volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Opportunities range from long-term leadership roles, to short-term event or fundraising roles, to ad hoc things that crop up unexpectedly as the chapter evolves.

If this sounds like something you're interested in, get in touch! Let us know what your skills, experience and interests are, and how much time you can give us. Email us on to register your interest.

Are you a univeristy student? Contact us at to learn more about getting involved on your campus! Or check out our Students Helping Students program.
