About Room to Read Chapters

Room to Read depends on our chapter leaders and chapter members to help us achieve our annual fundraising goal and to represent Room to Read. Our chapters are comprised of groups of individuals who have made a long-term volunteer commitment to promoting Room to Read within their networks and communities. The chapters organize annual fundraising events, introduce us to potential corporate, foundation and individual supporters and act as representatives for Room to Read within their area.

About the
Hong Kong
 Chapter

Since its inception in 2003, the Hong Kong chapter has grown with volunteers from various backgrounds. These volunteers come together to support Room to Read and our mission to help educate 10 million children by 2015. The Hong Kong Chapter volunteers are organized into different committees, which are as follows; The Gala Committee, Young Professionals Committee, Social Media Committee and our Student Helping Students (SHS) volunteers. We’re also looking to form a General Events Committee along with other areas of the Chapter outlined below. If you are interested in working with our HK chapter, please complete our online volunteer form on our website at www.roomtoread.org/volunteer

Drinks for Books

30 October 2012 - 6pm-10pm

Rayne, Yu Yuet Lai Bldg 43-55 Wyndham St, Central, Hong Kong

When was the last time you had a beer… and published 2+ books? It’s easier than you think – simply set up your own Beers for Books! Sandra Smedhall did just that one October night as part of our global campaign - Booktober.

For every drink sold, Rayne, the generous sponsor of the night, donated 10 HKD to Room to Read’s book publishing program. With the matching of Better World Books for our Booktober campaign, we published 2.5 books for every drink sold!

3500HKD was raised in addition to lots of awareness building and fun. Big thanks to Sandra for setting this up and to Rayne, the incredibly generous sponsor of the event. Cheers!

Beers for Books is super easy to organize – contact Emma.Iannaccone@RoomtoRead.org if you’d like to set up your own Beers for Books and enjoy an extra dose of altruism for your next night out!
