About Room to Read Chapters

Room to Read depends on our chapter leaders and chapter members to help us achieve our annual fundraising goal and to represent Room to Read. Our chapters are comprised of groups of individuals who have made a long-term volunteer commitment to promoting Room to Read within their networks and communities. The chapters organize annual fundraising events, introduce us to potential corporate, foundation and individual supporters and act as representatives for Room to Read within their area.

About the
Seattle
 Chapter

It all started here! The organization that was to become Room to Read was launched from a Belltown Starbucks in the late summer of 1999. Originally, back when it was “Books for Nepal”, the Seattle Chapter was made up of backpackers, climbers and trekkers. The late world record, high altitude climber, Christine Boskoff was one of Room to Read’s first supporters and Board Members.

Room to Read is looking for volunteers in the Seattle area. If you share our belief that world change starts with educated children and would like to support our cause please contact: Liz at Lizkiley12@gmail.com

Beers for Books
The concept is simple: For every drink you have, $1 will be donated to Room to Read and that buys one treasured local-language book for kids in places like Nepal, Cambodia, Laos, and South Africa. It may just be the easiest gift giving you've ever done - have a drink, give a book!

We're currently looking for our next Beers for Books venue.  Please email seattle@roomtoread.org if you have any suggestions.

Better Because

We're thrilled that authors Ginny Hutchinson and Cathy Haffner are donating a % of proceeds from their book Better Because of You to Room to Read.

We'll join them at a number of upcoming book events in the Puget Sound area and will announce them here.  You can also visit  http://www.betterbecause.com for more information!

Tickets: $25.00 (includes wine and light appetizers)
100% of your ticket purchase will go to Room to Read
