About Room to Read Chapters

Room to Read depends on our chapter leaders and chapter members to help us achieve our annual fundraising goal and to represent Room to Read. Our chapters are comprised of groups of individuals who have made a long-term volunteer commitment to promoting Room to Read within their networks and communities. The chapters organize annual fundraising events, introduce us to potential corporate, foundation and individual supporters and act as representatives for Room to Read within their area.

Meet the
Chicago
 Chapter Leaders

Lauren Calone (Lauren.Calone@gmail.com)
After a work lunch with John in '05, Lauren was inspired. She recently moved to Chicago after living & working in Singapore for the past 3.5yrs. There she helped launch the successful Singapore Chapter -leading the Young Professionals Team. Being able to travel to the countries that RtR supports and seeing their work first hand has touched her personally and hopes to inspire new volunteer
Terri Hanson
Marina Katovich
Marina became involved with Room to Read as the company she works for (Accenture) was one of the early corporate sponsors to provide global grants to Room to Read. She was fortunate enough to be able to travel to both Cambodia and India to see the wonderful work and support that the grants from Accenture provided. On a personal level she strongly supports the lifelong gift of education.
Carla Varner
A couple of years ago I was looking to make a career move and in search of a bigger purpose in life. A recruiter I met gave me a copy of John's book. I read the book, got inspired and contacted RTR to become a volunteer. I have been actively volunteering ever since. Everyone needs more room to read. Get inspired!
